WOW Woman – Maya Padhy

By Aryeman

Successful women don’t become that way overnight. What most people see at a glance—happiness, wealth, a great career, purpose—is the result of hard work and hustle over time.

To be successful, you have to use each day as an opportunity to improve, to be better, and to get a little bit closer to your goals. It might sound like a lot of work—and with a busy schedule, next to impossible. But the best part is, the more you accomplish, the more you’ll want to do, and the higher you’ll want to reach.

So as long as you have the hunger for success, you will always have the power within you to achieve it. So much like Maya Padhy, a dynamic professional with effective communications skills and over 16 years of successful working experience in diverse domains such as Banking, BPO, Airlines and Telecom Passive Infrastructure Operations. Somehow there has been no stopping her. It’s not just her charming demeanor that wows you but her constant spirit to excel and take on new challenges which inspire YOU to be a WOW Woman like her.

Over to Maya whose thoughts will make you start zooming ahead in your career.

What do you consider the main achievements in your life?

It all started with a bad relationship where I had to undergo physical abuse. I lost my self-confidence and felt very vulnerable for over two years. I think my biggest achievement is the way I fought with my depression and came out of it on my own.

What qualities do Women need to imbibe within themselves to be more Empowered and successful in life?

Honestly one need to continuously motivate oneself and also make efforts to inspire others.

What drives you to be at the Top of your Game?

I’m really driven by results — I like it when I have a concrete goal to meet, and enough time to figure out a strong strategy for accomplishing it. At my last job, our yearly goals were very aggressive, but I worked with my team to figure out a month-by-month strategy for meeting the year-end numbers. It was a real thrill to accomplish that.

What are your success strategies?

Whenever we feel we need to change, we are assuming something is wrong or that we are not good enough. We don’t need to change ourselves, we must enhance ourselves. We must hold visions of ourselves living as authentically and powerfully as we can. We must strive to be people we can love, respect, and admire.

With a busy professional schedule, how should one segregate interference to your personal life?

We should always be working to improve ourselves and our lives because without this type of personal work, our lives cannot grow. All of life is moving forward, and so must we. We can enhance ourselves by eating better, getting more sleep, and making out more alone me-time. Taking more breaks to feel and experience joy, read, exercise, go to seminars, see a therapist etc. Whatever it is that will take us to our next level, we must do that.

Have you dealt with failure? If so, how did you overcome it and resurge when all the chips were down?

I have always lived by the maxim that nobody is perfect, so I am relatively comfortable taking responsibility for my shortcomings. My approach is to figure out what I could change to avoid similar circumstances in the future.

It is important for us to recognize the power of men in supporting women. Is there a man who has played an instrumental role in your personal growth and success? Who are they and how did they influence you?

Definitely, it is both Man and Woman and those are my parents. They have always supporting me through good or bad times and have understood me better than anybody else in the world.

Which 3 Indian women have inspired you in your life and why?

Apart from being amazing at their jobs or careers – these women have broken barriers and came out stronger than ever. Dr. Tessy Thomas, Kiran Bedi and Mary Kom keep inspiring me.

Which causes related to Women would you like to support?

I would like to support women who are undergoing malnutrition and domestic violence.
