What do you consider the main achievements in your life? You seem to have started your business at a young age.
I consider, standing against all the odds and dreaming with open eyes to be my biggest achievement till date. I started this business, kept it off the track for a year as I had joined a MNC. It had been a bumpy ride but I decided to take the risk.
The biggest gamble I played by taking the decision of coming back to business and start it from a scratch again. The journey had been really exciting as many a times I found myself in a situation where I had to contemplate if I am doing it right. I had to challenge my own thoughts most of the times, to make it this far.
What was the inspiration and the hindrances that came your way?
I will not skip this opportunity to express that I had to face a lot (from my family to ask me few times to choose an easy life to figure out how to make it a flourishing brand) but seems it is all worth it.
I have been raised in such right atmosphere that my parents taught me the value of being Independent. Belonging to a family of professionals, I decided to do something on my own and make them feel proud of me. That was the whole idea behind starting this business.
Being part of the fashion industry, how do you style someone as per their body type?
My only way to style someone is to let them know they are beautiful. You can blend styles which can go with their personality as long as they are confident and comfortable to wear it. I do not believe in stereo-typing style with body type.
What is your personal Style statement?
I prefer bright colors over dull. I make sure what I wear makes my soul happy and eventually that happiness brings the confidence in me.
Would you be daring enough to expose someone now that the #MeToo campaign has created a furor?
What qualities do Women need to imbibe within themselves to be more Empowered and successful in life?
No matter what class you belong to, you should always be independent. In India, since childhood, girls start dreaming about a Prince Charming who will take charge of their lives & fulfill all the responsibilities. I believe it is time to change the ideology and bring some equality here too.
My message for women of this era is to stop drooling over the idea of getting married and starting a family. Take charge of yourself first, your family, your partner and his family. CREATE A STRONG IDENTITY FOR YOURSELF so that you are someone before being someone’s wife.
Life has a lot to offer you. An empowered woman does not expect someone else to treat her right and special. She just makes effort to ensure life is a better place for her and everyone around.
What drives you to be at the Top of your Game? What are your success strategies?
My success strategy is OLA- Observe, Learn & Apply. I observe the need of the hour, learn how important the opportunity is and apply my strategies dynamically. I think this takes us to the top.
Have you dealt with failure? If so, how did you overcome it and resurge when all the chips were down?
I do not count it as a failure. Instead I call it “Criticism”. I had to face a lot of criticism to follow what drives my soul on fire. I always kept my mind calm and believed in God’s blessings, zeal, efforts and most of all the stubbornness to follow my passion.
Which 3 Indian women have inspired you in your life and why?
The only woman who inspired and supported me in not compromising with my dreams is my Mother.
She had let go her career to raise us right and I had always seen a sort of emptiness in her eyes. Upon the suggestion of my father, I convinced her to be the co-owner of “Guzarish Creations”.
3 tips to Women to be successful in life.
- A woman should be known by her own name.
- Never compromise with your career & dreams.
- If you have decided to reach the destination, a bumpy road can never be the hurdle.
Your motto for Women Empowerment
